Autumn 2024
Puffins class explored our thought for the week about mighty oaks by looking around our school grounds to find items that will grow into mighty oaks. The children enjoyed finding many items in God's wonderful environment he has given us! We then thought about what we may grow to be by the end of the school year.
For thought of the week this week, we focused on hope and what hope others may have. We looked at some different pictures and discussed with the people in them would be hoping for.
We discussed having hope, and that we can achieve anything we set our mind to, both by having faith in God or faith in ourselves. We watched the story ‘Tilda Tries Again’ to remind ourselves that mistakes are fine, and we can always have another go!
We were then set a challenge, to make an origami boat from a set of instructions but without any help from our adults. We struggled and some of us became frustrated. We came back together to try again, using a video and each other to help us, and had much more success. We saw that anything is possible!

In our Class Worship the children heard the story of 'Paul Survives a Shipwreck'. A storm tore apart the ship but just as an Angel had prophesied to Paul, everyone survived the shipwreck. The children discussed their ideas and thoughts on the story and then acted in out. Here are some photos of our drama.

Penguins talked about how we should speak to each other and other things we could do to help others. We wrote a letter to St Barnabus suggesting things we could do to strength the link between the school and church.
8.
We watched the story of The Widow's Offering and talked about how we have been giving towards others and what the impact of that was. We recorded this on giving hearts and shared our experiences.
9. Many hands make light work.
Year 4 discussed how Many hands can might light work
TEACH US DELIGHT IN SIMPLE THINGS
We discussed:
What brings you joy and makes you feel happy?
Would the same thing give others joy?
How can we help others to feel joy through our actions?
Some of the things that bring us joy:
Kicking a football at the park
Watching a sunset/sunrise
Catching a wave
Visiting friends
Spending time with our families
Going fishing
Going on holiday
We also created a class JOY JAR full of things that bring us joy. Each day we read one.

12. Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.
In Yr R we have been having lots of conversations about attitude and what it means.
“Attitude means being nice and positive”
“Attitude is when you don’t snatch but you ask for it”
“I think attitude means how you treat people, have to have a good attitude at school because we want lots of friends”.
During Playing and Learning we focused on having a good attitude to make sure we would have a good day.
“I couldn't draw a rainbow but I had a good attitude and asked for help”
“I wanted to be a doctor but I waited for my friend to have a tern”
We have also spoken about how God loves us however we feel and whatever our attitude is but we should always strive for a positive attitude.
13. Be the change you want to see in the world.
This week Robins and Wrens spoke about being kind to one another and making sure to include others in our playing and learning time. We spoke about our feelings and how being kind is what all pupils in our school should be like.
‘I let lots of people play with me today’.
‘I let someone go in front of me in the lunch queue because they were kind’.
We want to see more children being kind in our school and showing our school values to one another.

Seek and you will find.
We found that the Bible teaches: Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened. We talked about the importance of prayer to Christians and wrote our own prayers.

In Puffins class this week we thought about what we are grateful for.
