Thought for the Week - Spring 2026

In year 3 we explored the Bible story of the wise men searching for Jesus, and we travelled round a maze whilst we thanked God for the birth of his son.

This week in Flamingos worship, the thought of the week was “A person is a person, no matter how small.” The children listened carefully and talked about how everyone is important and valued, no matter their size, age or abilities. Through simple discussion and reflection, they were encouraged to think about kindness, respect and how their words and actions can make others feel included. The worship reminded us that we are all special and loved, and that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. We then made little posters for the new year R children to reassure them about potential worries they may have that now we as year 1 have grown, now know they don't need to worry about.

We used the Tortoise and the Hare to explore the theme of perseverance, and discussed how in the Bible, two of each kind of animal reached the ark, even the small and slow ones. We then acted out the story of the Tortoise and the Hare using a thought alley. When we were tapped on the shoulder by our teacher, we gave the hare words of encouragement to help him persevere with the race.

For this weeks thought of the week 'All great achievements require time' the children had a circle time activity where they discussed things that they couldn't do but now they can. They then went away and drew a picture of something they wanting to achieve and are currently making steps towards that goal. We linked this with one of our MR PIC learning qualities 'perseverance' and discussed how we have to keep trying even when it is tricky!
