Summer 2025

As a class, we googled the definition of grace in the Bible, and had a class discussion about God’s kindness poured upon us, even when we don’t deserve it. We thought about God’s kindness to Saul in helping him become a better person.

We then looked at our own world, and created a mind map of things we would change about it.

Our teacher gave us a post-it note, and we thought of a solution we could use for one of the problems, trying to think of kind solutions!

The Good Gracious Friend

We thought about what makes a gracious friend. We unpicked the word and thought about our own experiences of friendship.

We discussed why it's important to do a job well and came up with

  • It makes people see that you are hard working
  • When you grow up and get a job, people may pay you more as they see you working hard
  • It stops you having to do the job twice
  • As you can learn something when you work hard.

We then gave ourselves 1 minutes to draw a picture of a flower and then repeated the activity not having a time limit. We then compared the 2 pictures and saw that the second picture was much better and therefore we shouldn't always rush our work.

In year 3 our Worship council members shared a ppt they made all about 'treat others how you want to be treated'.  They then helped others create pictures all about what that may look like to one another.

In year R we have learning about Rio de Janeiro, we looked at the Christ de Redeemer and the children thought this statue was beautiful. They said “Jesus looks happy, important and proud”. This matched beautifully with our thought for the week.

The children understand how important Jesus is and decided to re-enact him descending from heaven. They wanted to show how important Jesus is and how he has touched so many lives including ours

Penguins class wrote and performed their WOW assembly in St Barnabus Church for the week 'Love always protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres.'

It's not the winning but the taking part that counts

Peacocks class went outside to have a race. We discussed beforehand that it didn't matter who was the fastest or the slowest, just that we were all outside in the sunshine having fun with our friends and enjoying some exercise.

Year 1:

We looked at the thought for the week 'It's not the winning but taking part that counts.' We discussed how we can be proud of ourselves for having a go, trying things that are out of our comfort zone and persevering when things get hard. We focused in on the idea of our sports day races and thought about how we can be pleased with ourselves even if we don't win. The children then had a race outside and we congratulated everyone for joining in!

In our last week the children have spoken about their favourite parts of year R and what they best moment was.

They decided to make an amazing show to show future year groups how to use the equipment and what you can make using creativity.

We will also be making a collage face of ourselves to go into year 1 with to remember our time in YR.
