Science

When children first come to school they bring with them their earliest observations of the world around them. We aim to build on this existing experience and to provide the children with a range of opportunities which will:

  • stimulate their curiosity about the environment.develop scientific understanding, knowledge, skills and processes.develop exploratory and investigative skills, e.g. hypothesis, prediction, observation, interpretation, etc.encourage children to consider the practical application of their science work to everyday life.
  • teach children to record results systematically using a variety of methods and interpret their findings accurately and use equipment and materials correctly and safely.

Science may be delivered through 'blocked units' of work e.g. electricity; cross curricular units which link to topic work, and the ongoing development of scientific skills and processes.
